Travel to České Budějovice
...All roads in South Bohemia lead to České Budějovice

By plane:
The nearest airports are Prague, Linz, and Vienna.

By car:
From Prague, follow the E55 toward České Budějovice. Parts of the route are toll roads (Prague–D1 section and the stretch north of Tábor), requiring an electronic vignette (1-day or 10-day) available at:
https://digitale-vignette-online.cz/
From Linz, take the S10, which becomes the E55 after crossing into the Czech Republic. The newest section of the E55 between Kaplice and České Budějovice also requires a vignette. Since this tolled segment is only 15–20 km, you may choose to bypass it using local roads via Kaplice and Velešín.

By train:
There are direct train connections from Prague (Hlavní nádraží), Plzeň, and Linz (Hauptbahnhof) to České Budějovice.
From Prague, express trains run every two hours and make only one stop in Tábor before reaching České Budějovice.
Traveling from Vienna requires one change. Take a train from either Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof or Heiligenstadt to České Velenice, then change to a Czech Railways train for České Budějovice.
It is usually best to buy two separate tickets:
– Vienna → České Velenice (ÖBB website)
– České Velenice → České Budějovice (České dráhy website)
Alternatively, check whether the ÖBB or České dráhy websites offer a convenient single-ticket option, as this varies by date.
Train journeys from all three cities typically take 2–3 hours.

In České Budějovice
The train and bus stations are located about 3 km from the University of South Bohemia campus. It is a pleasant walk in good weather.
Trolleybus line 3 runs directly from the bus station (located opposite the train station) to the university (Jihočeská univerzita stop).
A 60-minute ticket costs 30 CZK and can be purchased electronically via the city transport website www.dpmcb.cz or as a paper ticket from a ticket machine. You may also buy a ticket from the driver, but this option is significantly more expensive. The same ticket is valid for all city buses within the 60-minute time period.
