Columba Martinez Espinosa

Columba Martínez Espinosa is the current President of the European Chapter of the Society of Wetland Scientists.

She is a scientist specializing in the biogeochemical cycles of wetlands and works at the Tour du Valat Research institute for the conservation of Mediterranean wetlands in France. Holding a PhD in Functional Ecology, her scientific work focuses on understanding how ecological processes and nutrient dynamics shape the structure and functioning of wetland ecosystems, with the aim of supporting their conservation, restoration and sustainable management.
